Audiophile hi-fi bar Ōdiobā has landed in Stockport Underbanks
Ōdiobā lands in Stockport Underbanks, a coffee house by day and Audiophile Hi-Fi bar by evening, serving a refined cocktail offering, artisan coffee, Shindigger on tap, and home to an elite hand-built audiophile sound system.
The listening bar is the latest concept by the team behind the beloved NAM which was based in Ancoats. After embarking on a mission to find a new home for NAM Sound System, Ōdiobā was born. Whether it’s the warm crackle of vinyl records spinning during the day or the energy of a live DJ set at night, the sound system sets the stage for an unforgettable experience at Stockport’s newest spot.
Spread over three floors, it’s a cosy destination for all occasions. Whether it be perching up to work there in the day with a delicious supply of coffee and local teas, a date night, or catching up with friends.
Each weekend sees the venue come alive, the Nam and Friends programme brings a rotation of disc jockeys each Friday and Saturday to take over the sound system, spinning jazz, funk, soul, house and everything in between. The high-quality sound system ensures that every note, every beat, and every lyric is delivered with clarity and precision, so guests can fully appreciate the artistry of the music.
The likes of Ad Hoc Records, Swales, Josh and Toby previously of Melodic Distraction, Rev. Austin Sherman, Be With Records, Joy Social, Andrea Trout and Adam Aitch have graced the decks in recent weekends. To come, Yadava, All Kinds of Joy, Black Bees Soul Club Presents, Ruf Dug, Emma Plant Shop and much more. All upcoming listings can be found here.
A pub quiz will be hosted every fortnight, calling all music maestros and trivia buffs for a night of brain-busting fun with @quizzedbycooper. With themed rounds, groovy beats, and epic prizes, it’s the ultimate audio quiz experience. The next quiz falls on Thursday the 30th May.
Ōdiobā celebrates local craftsmanship and premium quality in every sip. The distinct flavours of Stockport’s Worker Bee artisan coffees and teas feature on the menu, alongside refreshing draught beers from Manchester’s own Shindigger brewery, delicious low and no alcohol options, and meticulously crafted house cocktails, featuring the finest ingredients.
Founders Nam Tran & Lauren Lane said on the opening: “We’re absolutely buzzed to be here and to share the street with some incredible
independent neighbours. We’re hoping those who have shared the journey with us so far will continue to do so down on the cobbles. For now we’re offering coffee and tea in the daytime, before dimming the lights for booze and beats in the evening.
“We’ve got some exciting plans for the space too, we want to channel our passion for film into hosting regular cinema nights upstairs. Spotlighting some of our favourite indie films, from old Hong Kong and Japanese cinema to music documentaries, a whole variety really! So keep your eyes peeled for that too.”
