Calussa & Malone – More Life EP [Hurry Up Slowly]
Miami’s Hurry Up Slowly launch their new in-house imprint to close May as label founders Calussa and Malone combine to deliver their ‘More Life’ EP.
One of the States’ fastest-rising events series, Hurry Up Slowly is an experiential events concept focused around immersive musical voyages from a team of curators with over 30 years of experience in the game. Native to Miami, Florida, with global aspirations on the horizon, the East-Coast tastemakers have quickly formed a unique identity within the city’s electronic music landscape, welcoming renowned international artists to partner alongside their core artists and label founders, Calussa and Malone.
With a love of Latin and Afro music from their mutual Cuban heritage, brother pairing Calussa can be found regularly playing alongside international names such as Bedouin and Blond:ish, whilst Malone’s journey has already seen releases via Stereo Productions, Saved, Toolroom, and Club Sweat, alongside featuring as a resident with his weekly RITMO show on Blond:ish’s Abracadabra Twitch channel, and making appearances at the likes of LIV, Club Space and Do Not Sit. Having recently welcomed the likes of Nic Fanciulli and Carlita to the city for their latest event, late May welcomes the launch of their new self-titled label as the trio prepare to reveal a wealth of quality underground music spanning Afrohouse, minimal, house and beyond – kicking things off via their collaborative ‘More Life’ EP.
A slick, lively cut fuelled by vibrant guitar riffs, organic percussion arrangements, animated horns, and infectious vocal hooks, ‘More Life’ showcases a fusion of Latin and Caribbean influences expertly crafted within a stimulating house production, whilst the ‘After Hours’ version combines escalating synth melodies, smooth shakers, and rolling drum grooves to take things deep into the early hours.
