Motion Bristol Announces Spring / Summer Schedule
Having kicked off the year in exhilarating fashion, Motion lock in more impressive names for spring and summer programme. After being crowned DJ Mag’s Best Large Club late last year, Motion has once again cemented its reputation as one of the world’s best, hitting number 11 in DJ Mag’s most recent Top 100 Clubscountdown. Having ranked at number 16 last year, a climb of five places is testament to the brilliant programming happening at the Bristol venue.
Having kicked off the series with the mighty Charlotte de Witte earlier this month, Perpetual is on track for its biggest year ever with giants of the scene DVS1, Bicep [DJ Set] and Sasha still to come and prove why they are some of the most influential artists in electronic music. April is packed with killer shows, as DJ Marky & Friends light up Bristol with their South American-influenced channeling of drum and bass on Saturday 6th April and Sink The Pink, one of the UK’s best LGBTQ+ nights, promises to paint the city pink on Saturday 13th April. With tickets close to selling out, a must-see show arrives in the form of Ben Nicky Presents TECHFX on Friday 3rd May, the new project from the superstar DJ that showcases his darker, techno leanings in an exciting first, with Boiler Room assembling some of the UK’s finest rising selectors for a back-to-basics show on Friday 10th May. After helping Bristol see in the New Year with two energetic shows last year, elrow returns to Motion for another sold out show on Sunday 21st April with brand new underwater theme Rowmudas, while the disco balls are back out in full, shimmering force for Glitterbox on Saturday 1st June and iconic producer Madlib [DJ Set], Kamaal Williams [Live] and more deliver a masterclass in hip-hop beats and soulful grooves on Saturday 24th August.
Not many clubs can claim to utilise outdoor spaces as uniquely as Motion and the demand for Open Air Club has prompted an expansion to two dates in 2019. After locking in techno giant Joseph Capriati, local hero Eats Everything, the legendary Heidi and more for the first party of the year on Saturday 4th Maywith tickets down to final release, Motion have assembled another impressive bill of selectors for Saturday 1st June. Hunee, Shanti Celeste, Moxie and Folamour will explore all corners of house, techno, disco and beyond for an all day marathon that ranks as one of the most unmissable events of the year and tickets are flying, as popular collective Abode assemble one of their biggest lineups to date for yet another world-renowned party on Saturday 22nd June. More beloved events are back for the summer months as the famous Hospitality Bristol BBQ takes over three areas with some of the best feel-good drum and bass party starters on Saturday 8th June, Bitch, Please! bring Chicago house pioneer Derrick Carter, Bambounou, Cinthie and more to Bristol for another euphoric Summer Day Party on Saturday 15th June, Defected promise the best education in house music for their annual Day & Night Party on Saturday 27th July and the annual Summer Garden Party returns as the perfect Bank Holiday accompaniment on Sunday 25th August. To celebrate summer, Motion are kicking off another series of Lock Yard parties which will run from May to September every Friday on the riverside terrace, featuring takeovers from local collectives including Deep Discs, Dad Bod Boogie and many more.
