Sizeup’s Party Playlist
Jamie Burley AKA Sizeup is a York-based DJ/producer who’s budding career has been influenced by leading taste-makers including Frankie Knuckles, Kevin Saunderson and Todd Terry. To date, he has released a handful of Tech House tunes on labels including Material, PIXELATE, Materialism, and also most recently made his debut on Jamie Jones and Lee Foss’ co-owned Hot Creations, via his ‘Perplexer EP‘ which is out now. Dance Rebels also caught up with Sizeup for a chat about what tracks make his current ‘Party Playlist’ too…
Sizeup – Perplexer EP [Hot Creations] – First up the long awaited release on Hot Creations finally arrives 18th January 2019, with an obscene bassline, choppy vocals and stabs guaranteed to cause a dance floor stir. Jamie Jones was hammering the promo all summer.
Sizeup – Don’t stop [Material Trax] – I put all my favourite key elements into this track Acid 303, 808 claps with dark rolling bass and edgy vocals, can you guess the male vocalist used in this?
2000 And One – Spanish Fly [100% Pure] – Okay so I’m jumping on the band wagon with this one as it’s been popping up on a few artist charts recently and rightly so it’s an absolute stomper from start to finish. For me a track that stays in my playlist.
Instrusive – You Feelin’ Good (Kreature Remix) [District 9] – I love how Kreature grabs all the key parts out of the original and completely transforms it into a typical “Kreature Groover” this track for me never fails on the dancefloor.
Liberty City – If You Really Love Someone (The Murk Groove) [Tribal] – I’ve got a soft spot for 90’s house (who hasn’t) back then MURK, Funky Green Dogs and Liberty City remixing and collaborating dance floor destroyers with one another using that signature iconic vocalist. This was a hard choice as they were all brilliant.
Rudosa – Activated [We Are The Brave] – This simply had to be included, for me arguably the best techno release of 2018, ridiculous syths, snares with an insane low end kick, all the ingredients to a techno bomb!
Gustaff – Break The Floor [Distance music] – First time I listened to this I thought why is it in the minimal genre this works perfectly in my peak time sets the leads synth is insane. Hope to hear more from this producer next year!
Matt Tolfrey and Frank Storm – What to Say (Dj Deeon Remix) [Rawthentic] – I’ve tried to cover most genres of house I enjoy producing and playing, this track brings back the gritty old school garage vibe with a raw vocal, it’s in and out quickly so no need to chop into this one!
Seb Zito – On it [Play it say it] – Liking everything released on this label so I thought I’d include one of my favourites in here, it’s one of them tracks when you think to yourself I wish I’d made that. Also one of the best vocals kicking about right now!
Juan Eres – Dance Wav (Svan Gianz Remix) [Creepy label] – Them skippy drums fast moving hats really keep the energy in this track, it never gets boring, cool vocals and bass. Been playing this loads.
