THE HYDRA takeover three huge dates at DRUMSHEDS
With a reputation as one of the UK’s most consistent names in underground music – long-standing electronic music gathering The Hydra has been synonymous with delivering the highest quality events that have gathered tens of thousands of left-leaning appreciators in its years. Constantly exploring the boundaries of the sonic underground, The Hydra’s stand-out shows mix stacked line ups of experimental DJs and live acts, solid production and lighting shows, usually delivered in an industrial warehouse space – a nod to its warehouse party roots.
This season The Hydra are back for three mighty shows for the third season, curated by long-standing affiliates – Four Tet, Honey Dijon and BICEP. These three specialist shows sees each curator unite artists from the left-leaning worlds of bass, techno, house, grime, garage, jungle, DnB and more – connecting the dots between an expanse of genres.
Kicking off their triple show head turner, they launch with a collaboration with long-standing promoter ‘Eat Your Own Ears’ – known for their eclectic and dynamic programming, they’ll team up with one electronic music’s most intriguing names – Four Tet. Taking place Saturday the 2nd of November, a true tastemaker with international recognition, Four Tet takes over DRUMSHEDS where curates a curveball show with bass, dubstep, jungle and left-leaning artists – showing a different side of his palette and influences.
Two leading ladies from the jungle and DnB world, DJ Storm collides with DJ Flight for an unparalleled b2b. Hyperdub specialist and footwork aficionado Kode9 will also be joining for a special set dedicated to jungle. Meanwhile South London duo Mala and Coki aka Digital Mystikz will be propelling low end frequencies of the finest dubstep. A dubplate specialist received for his groundbreaking productions from the likes of Skrillex and Fred Again, Ahadadream makes his DRUMSHEDS debut for The Hydra. One half of Karenn and no stranger to The Hydra, Blawan comes to DRUMSHEDS for a leftfield techno set pushing the boundaries with his speedy sonics. A tastemaker who has been making music for over 14 years, Caribou goes back-to-back with Canadian export and skilled instrumentalist Champion.
Pushing harder sounds and faster BPMs Chloé Robinson joins the day into night session. Renowned for their intelligent grime sets laced with bass, Elijah and Skilliam arrive in Tottenham. Since releasing his debut album on Text Records in 2022, Tchaparian has burst through the scene with a big presence making him a perfect addition for The Hydra. Khan & Neek initially met and formed a friendship through going out as teenagers in their hometown in Bristol; since then the two have gone on to make their mark in the world of sound system music which is why its no surprise Four Tet invited them to The Hydra. Koreless also joins the programme for an expedition into dubstep, two-step and soulful electronica. Ahead of her most recent album ‘Mother’ Logic1000 joins The Hydra with her unique dance rhythms and slinky club rollers. Recognisable as a presenter on Apple 1 Music and NTS, Naina is known for her accelerating hard dance music and swaying between techno, footwork and jungle. Other artists billed include Object Blue, Oppidan, Surusinghe, T. Williams, Tailor Jae, The Bug & Flowdan and Yung Singh.
Next up, The Hydra invite Honey Dijon and her ‘House Nation’ for a multigenre evening of the finest sonics with elite names from both house and amapiano worlds on board representing. Showcasing a multigenre evening of global club sonics with elite names representing sounds from both house and amapiano worlds. A musician and creative critically acclaimed to the highest accolades, very special guest DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown aka Erykah Badu makes her long awaited return to London for an extremely rare DJ set as part of Honey’s House Nation. Proving her abilities beyond the mic, DJ Low Down Loretta Brown, curates sets composed of her own works as well as other house and soul tracks, demonstrating her capabilities within the beat world.
Two connoisseurs of house music make their debut at DRUMSHEDS – for the first time ever, Carl Craig will play b2b with the one and only Omar S. Finishing off the OG ‘BOTA’ herself Eliza Rose will be performing her iridescent show across house and garage for the night. A stalwart within the queer world who fuses hip-hop, house and electronic Cakes Da Killa, arrives in Tottenham on the 6th of December. A genre hopper who has made a name for himself in the UK and beyond, KILIMANJARO takes to the warehouse, for melodic techno and amapiano and diasporic house. An icon who has quickly earned her status as a UK Funky heavyweight Karen Nyame KG makes her debut at The Hydra. Following on from their monumental demonstration at Piano People last season, Major League DJz return for another spirited performance in amapiano. A meteorite bursting through the house scene in London, Serenda joins the plethora of acts. Also waving the flag for house music DEFECTEDs own Luke Solomon joins the festivities. Queer Bruk head honcho, Sippin’ T arrives at DRUMSHEDS with striking sounds straight from the diaspora. A visionary artist bridging their Jamaican heritage and driving techno sounds, TYGAPAW also heads the evening. Other artists include Chez Damier, DJ Lag, Fatima Koanda, Maurice Fulton and Taylah Elaine.
Round three of the Hydra invites a duo who have received the greatest recognition for their dedication to the scene – BICEP once again is garnering a lineup of undisputed experts on the 7th of September as they once again present some of the highest-in-demand talents from the electronic world. Left-leaning house, techno and bassline from Anz, ready to rave with a variety of stacked sonics as well as hard hitting selector Batu. One third of Hessle Audio, Pangea will be returning to The Hydra for a masterclass into unrivalled tech, electronic and breaks. Belfast born breakmaster Kessler is back at The Hydra, this time with a live performance. Both recognised as masterminds for their complex productions Call Super will be going toe-to-toe with Pariah for a feisty b2b of leftfield sounds. Maricxs resident and Body Movements head honcho Saoirse takes to the stage. An anonymous entity breaking boundaries in the electronic realm, Client_03 comes to North London for the day into night session with a live audio visual show.
A bass specialist with releases on the likes of ‘HERAS Records’ Denham Audio also will be joining The Hydra. A pioneer recognisable for his commitment to the Detroit techno movement DJ Stingray 313 is back. Another artist for techno fans, Helena Hauff brings her deep rolling tech and acid for a special set. Also waving the flag for techno FJAAK brings their industrial rhythms to the space. An enigma who transcends through the underground for their intricate productions LCY sets the pace for the third Hydra. Other names featured include Cameo Blush, Giulia Tess, IceMorph, LUXE, JD Reid, Machine Woman SHEE, Space Afrika – DJ Set and Van Wilkins
Set across DRUMSHEDS’ three monumental spaces – X ROOM, Y ROOM, Z ROOM, and complemented by ground-breaking production, all three Hydra events will be an audio-visual experience of the finest degree.
