2023 was E1’s sixth and most successful year to date. Its progressive line-ups and famous attention to detail when it comes to the light, sound and visuals in the venue stood it further apart than ever before. A whole raft of new innovations include the installation of Pioneer’s Track ID technology while Rebel Overlay continued to provide lighting and visuals unlike any other. All three E1 music rooms have custom-built, bespoke Funktion-One sound systems installed by Sound Services Ltd and each one is ready to go again for another 12 months of forward-thinking underground events.
This year’s early offerings prove E1 is dedicated to pushing things forward with bold and thoughtful line-ups. Amongst many highlights are January events featuring the seductive techno of Laure Croft for Noise Orchestra x E1 on the 19th, Vendex who plays a London Debut AV show on the 26th alongside Lee Ann Roberts and Kiki Solvej that will explore dark, industrial and shadowy sound worlds, and a melodic exploration with prog king Guy J, Dosem and more on the 27th.
February brings white-knuckle techno pioneers Karenn aka Blawan & Pariah. They play on the 2nd and will serve up a thrilling live set packed with unreal synth sounds while Noir turns two on the 3rd with party starter Jackmaster, dub tech and garage don Rich NxT and more. On the 9th Charlie Sparks and his Elektra comrades bring their raucous grooves and later Free From Sleep and E1 join forces to bring leading techno luminary Anfisa Letyago for an exclusive set on the 10th.
March 2nd is when hard techno and acid master HI-LO plays with Juliet Fox and Joyhasuer who goes all night long, then The Disco Express 7th birthday on March 8th will be a superb showcase of Detroit house with Motor City star Marcellus Pittman plus Dutch duo and Heist label heads Dam Swindle.
For more heady and escapist melodic sounds, Innervisions legend Jimi Jules is as fine as they come. He plays the 16th, and the night after Stella Bossi has curated a full lineup that will allow her to explore the many facets of her sound. Add in a Key Vinyl Showcase with heads-down industrial techno talent Freddy K and a party with breakout Spanish star Indira Paganotto and you have all bases covered.
