Cala Mijas festival completes line up with daytime programming and stage splits
Experience the enchanting Cala Mijas festival as it completes its incredible line up for 2023’s edition. Cala Mijas nestled in the heart of the Costa Del Sol, will host some of music’s most renowned artists. Split over three sun kissed days, attendees can expect an eclectic mix of world renowned acts including Arcade Fire, Foals, IDLES, Moderat, Siouxsie, Amaia, The Strokes, M83, Underworld, Florence + The Machine to name a few plus 60 more.
Running from August 31st to September 2nd, each day will better the last. Thursday 31st’s highlights include globally acclaimed indie rock sensation, Arcade Fire, who’ll ignite the crowd with their anthemic sound. Foals, known for pushing genre boundaries, will deliver an exhilarating set blending infectious energy and intricate musicality. Punk rock rebels IDLES will bring unapologetic intensity, while Moderat will mesmerise with their groundbreaking fusion of electronic and experimental sounds. Siouxsie, the iconic lead singer of Siouxsie and the Banshees will transport the crowd to the golden age of alternative and post-punk music plus rising star Amaia will captivate all with her soulful vocals. Honorable mentions also include Baxter Dury, Pabllo Vittar, Tamino, James Holden Live, Nicola Cruz DJ Set, Cala Vento, Cupido, Juicy Bae, and Prosumer.
September 1st plays host to Indie rock legends The Strokes and M83 who’ll bring their iconic soundscapes to captivate the crowd, while electronic pioneers Underworld and Acid Arab (live) will create immersive and electrifying performances. Punk rock enthusiasts can expect an explosive show from Amyl & The Sniffers, while Lori Meyers and Cariño will deliver infectious melodies and uplifting indie-pop vibes. Palms Trax will take festival-goers on a genre-blending journey, leaving them dancing throughout the night. With a lineup that encompasses a diverse range of musical talent, other names include Junior Boys, Charlie Cunningham, Delaporte, Compro Oro, Saoirse, and Yung Prado.
On September 2nd, Cala Mijas festival will close its second edition with an array of unique shows. Florence + The Machine will deliver a hauntingly powerful performance, alongside Arca’s boundary-pushing electronic set. Indie favorites, Belle & Sebastian, will fill the air with nostalgic tunes, with The Blaze offering an immersive electronic-cinematic spectacle. José González will charm with his soulful folk music, and Metronomy will party the night away with an infectious dance set. Other acts coined to play include Duki, Baiuca, Ballena, La Élite, Ethel Chain, Judeline, Axel Boman live, Helena Hauff, I. Jordan, Ketiov b2b Moxie, and Tom VR.

On September 1st and September 2nd, Cala de Mijas will bring free gigs for locals and festival-goers alike to enjoy from 12 pm until 16.30 pm at the two stages located in El Torreón de Cala Mijas. On Friday the iconic Ben Yart, the neocorridos of the Hispanic Mexican Vatocholo, the band from Malaga Lord Malvo, the young producer and selector from Granada Natural Language and a DJ set by Rocío Saiz will be some of the key names of this programme. On Saturday at La Playa, punk will be one of the stars of the show with the Aiko el grupo, and the Barcelona-based Sistema de Entretenimiento. There will be rock from the locals The Deniors and the Venezuelan Safety Trance (also known as Cardopusher) and Playdoo Club from Granada (Robzzz b2b Internet Rat).
