Azzecca’s Party Playlist
When she isn’t commanding the dance floor with her own eclectic library of music, Azzecca can be found in the crowd in one of Chicago’s underground clubs, or running her rapidlygrowing event series ‘Dirty Disco,’ which promotes trail-blazing artists from around the globe. Azzecca’s love for house, techno and the darker sides of dance and disco drive her both as a DJ and producer. Through her distinctive DJ style and thoughtful selections, Azzecca has a unique ability to take crowds on unexpected journeys through genres and emotions, leaving nothing to be desired at the end of her sets. Azzeca has also just dropped ‘Ego Death’ through REALM Records, and to celebrate the release she has conjured a party playlist, listen below:
Azzecca- Ego Death [ Realm ] Something I really look for in songs that I play in my sets is that ability to totally reset the vibe on the dance floor, so I’m really proud of the fact that ‘Ego Death’ fits into that category. It’s a stand-out song in that it doesn’t really fit into any one genre, so you can play it, and then take your set in any direction afterwards easily.
Butch – Magnetic [ Drumcode ] Butch might just have the greatest back catalogue of music, ever. Magnetic is just one of many of his that set the dance floor off. It’s a slow burner that morphs into something different through every minute. It’s fun to let this one play out the full 7 minutes and watch how the dance floor excitement builds with it.
Ejeca – Away [ Shall not Fade] I love any song that goes from euphoric to dark, driving and donk-y. I’m a sucker for a donk, especially on the dance floor, so this one has my firm stamp of approval.
Camelphat – Hulk 2017 Rework Re-Fix [Cr2 Records] I’m giving away a secret weapon here. This song is so sick. It’s one of those tracks that you can play anywhere and it will go off, those glitchy synths really catch you off guard. It’s tech-house but in the tastiest way.
Sneaky Sound System – Can’t help the way that I feel [Cr2 Records] I just love this song. I don’t play very many light, feel-good tracks in my sets, but when I do this is one of them. It’s great when you’re opening up a room and building a vibe and it’s great when you throw it in between your harder darker music to provide a bit of relief.
Subb-ann, Ali Gosh, Adam Pits – State of Flow ( Adam Pits Remix ) [Vision Recordings] This song is a proper journey. The gated vocals, the bassline, the breaks… it’s a masterpiece in my opinion. I’m into pretty much everything Adam Pits puts out.
Ilario Alicante – Vacaciones en Chile (2000 AND ONE, LAUHAUS AND KABALE UND LIEBE REMIX) [ Tenax Recordings] If you’ve got a patient crowd this is the one. I find this song to be so intelligently designed that it’s almost hypnotizing. When I first heard this one I felt like I was in a trance for the first 7 minutes… then that addicting guitar lead comes in at about 7.30 and it’s just scrumptious.
Weska- Catalyst [Self released] There are few things more satisfying to me than a Weska kick drum. This track is so simple and so naughty. The mid range growls in combination with the vocals and minimal percussion is peak time heaven in my opinion.
