Jordan Peak’s Party Playlist
Jordan Peak is a DJ/producer who is not confined to one genre of Dance music, he flirts with multiple genres including House, Peak-Time Techno, Minimal/Deep Tech, Jackin’ House and UK Garage. This formula for success has enabled him to land records on labels including MOXY MUZIK, Robsoul Recordings and Too Many Rules, whilst he has also been able to launch his own imprint entitled Peak Trax to enable him to share his tunes on a regular basis with his ever-growing fanbase.
Jordan is also a man dedicated to his craft as he recently, unfortunately had to take a break from music due to a flare-up of Cystic Fibrosis and a mental health battle with anxiety and depression and despite the extra stress the genetic life-limiting condition causes on Jordan’s body, he has returned to his Peak Trax imprint to drop his three-track ‘Party Vibe‘ EP. Dance Rebels also had a chance to chat with Jordan, and he has conjured a party playlist to celebrate the release too, listen below:
M-High – Enchant Me [Locus] Kicking off with some high-quality deepness here, but when it’s M-High & Locus involved would you expect anything less? I’m in love with those dreamy, euphoric pads. A lot of the tracks I’ve featured are very beats and bass heavy so it’s nice to start this feature with something more melodically focused.
Interplanetary Criminal & DJ Cosworth – Untitled A [Hot Haus] Interplanetary Criminal of “Baddest Of Them All” fame teams up with DJ Cosworth to deliver a very tasty modern take on speed garage, a sound that’s always been close to my heart. I also have this on 10” vinyl I like it that much.
Santé Sansone – Exit [Solid Grooves Raw] Solid Grooves put out some great music, especially on the Solid Grooves Raw imprint for my tastes. This one’s a solid groover, very apt for a label called Solid Grooves with an incredibly catchy m1 organ riff, well programmed drums and chopped up vocal samples. What more could you want?
Sasha Gigi – Sugar Daddy [Edible Records] I fell in love with this the very second I heard it. Killer high tempo house with a jacking Chicago / Derrick Carter influence to it with a sexy spoken word vocal from Sasha herself! Is there anything that girl can’t do? The B side is also great but Sugar Daddy just ticks all the boxes for me. This is on Eats Everything’s excellent Edible (how’s that for alliteration) label. Look out for two EPs from me on the imprint this year…
2000 And One – Spanish Fly [100% Pure] This is a track that will never leave my record bag and USBs no matter how old it gets. 2000 And One is someone I have a lot of records from in my collection and during this time period he was really on fire. I was thinking about including his track “Get Down” or the remix he did of Par Grindvik on Drumcode, but went with this as it has that hypnotic chord stab and exhilarating snare roll in the main breakdown, something that always works at a rave.
Pearson Sound – Alien Mode [Hessle Audio] Whether you call him Pearson Sound, Ramadan Man, Maurice Donovan, DJ Harlow or David Kennedy you can’t deny this guy’s talent. Head of the impeccable Hessle Audio label this release was one of the better things to come out of that treacherous time period that was the year 2020. Remember that? Yikes. Breakbeats (the same used in 2 Bad Mice “Bombscare”), bass, extra-terrestrial synths and trippy vocal samples (I think it’s taken from the Netflix show Stranger Things?) all come together to make this dance floor destroyer.
Jordan Peak feat. Jodie Paige – Party Vibe [Peak Trax] Last but not least, we have the lead track from my new EP on my label Peak Trax, JP featuring JP! I started the label as a way to showcase all the shades of house & techno music I like to make and play, plus I like what Truncate and Objekt do with their self-titled labels in that it’s a project for them just to release their own music on and have full creative control. I have so much music I’m sitting on I just want to get it out and share it with everyone. I started the track with the vocal in mind, I wrote the hook and knew the delivery I wanted, and asked a friend if he knew anyone that would sound good doing it and he put me in touch with Jodie who’s an amazing artist. Before I got the vocal back I already knew what kind of beat I wanted to make for it and it all came together really quickly once it was in my hands. The vocal is actually taken from a WhatsApp voice note she sent over! Big thanks again to Jodie for being on the track.
