TIBASKO – Still Rushing (Azzecca Remix) [Another Rhythm]
As a fresh talent already racking up the big-name supporters (inc. Danny Howard, Sarah Story, Michael Bibi) and impressive streaming stats, Chicago’s Azzecca remixes ‘Hawt’ duo TIBASKO’s euphoric, jungle/D&B infused anthem ‘Still Rushing’, out on Another Rhythm on February 24th.
This follows hard upon the success of her ‘Other Side’ EP (Higher Ground) which was still at #15 in Beatport’s Melodic House & Techno chart 6 weeks post release, and Ida Enberg’s remix of her ‘I’ve Been Waiting’, plus ecstatically received debuts at fabric, Printworks, ARC Festival Chicago for her signature house, techno, darker disco and dance melange. And she’s just getting started, from her native Chicago launch pad aka her infamous but female-friendly ‘Dirty Disco’ party nights.
‘Still Rushing’ (Azzecca remix) turns up the sustained speed and the house kicks and hi-hats as opposed to the firestarting drums of the original, adding powerful bass riff arps turning sharp and fizzy, and a full-on charge to the end.
‘I knew I wanted to make something big and slamming that I could play in my own sets, so went down more of a straight techno route than my latest releases’ Azzecca says. ‘I started by pitching the vocal down a bit to match the original vocals from Julia Church. The acid line was made on the Novation Summit (with a lot of distortion!) I love using hardware synths, tweaking the filters etc live feels much more involved and hands on for me.’
