JADED – Work [Stress]
The London trio with a knack for taut and groove laden club-ready anthems, London outfit Jaded is a living embodiment of London’s world-beating underground house scene. Their musical collaboration began when Nari ended up laying down guitar on one of Teo’s tracks and it was a hook-up that’s proven fruitful. Once joined by final member, Jordan Parkinson, the London trio have gone on to release tracks on Black Butter, Toolroom and Higher Ground, racking up over 100 million streams with a distinctive bass inflected house sound. Jaded return to Stress Records with their new tunes, ‘Work’ and ‘A Gentleman In Paris’.
Possibly one of the catchiest house songs you’ll hear this year, Work is an energetic dancefloor banger which blends pounding drums, crystal clear vocals and a chaotic electric melody which keeps you engaged throughout. With clear nods to the early days of house music, this one is as at home in the 90s as it will be in Ibiza in 2022. The relentless drums and bassline give you no escape and the production is top shelf. The mix leaves just enough space to breathe and brings you up quickly, keeping the intense rhythm in your ears at all times. A mixture of textures and rhythms grace this song in their own right, making it a modern rave classic.
With barely a second to sit back, A Gentleman In Paris kicks off with loud, walking bass and the pounding drums we’ve come to expect from Jaded. As the melody joins and copies the bass, wailing vocals flow around the mix creating a consuming dance banger which keeps you locked in for the whole time. As always with Jaded, there’s a definite throwback to the 90s rave scenes with the intensity and tones this song puts forward. This modern-classic vibe is bound to get dance floors moving – a great blend of old school with modern production.
