Fatboy Slim – Ya Mama (Dance System’s Back to Boutique Remix) [Skint]
UK club music pioneer and scene stalwart Dance System (fka L-Vis 1990) shares his festival-ready big banger remix of Fatboy Slim’s old skool anthem, ‘Ya Mama’ – marking 20 years of the epic seaside rave, Big Boutique Beach. The Dance System moniker was born from a love of club culture and the history of house music, and a desire to release no-holds-barred club music without the ego.
It’s easy to see why then, for Dance System who gained his early musical education in his native Brighton listening to his teachers (Daft Punk, Armand Van Helden, Fatboy Slim) the remix was a no-brainer. Raw club energy, a pumpin’ bassline, and that signature Dance System filter magic, it’s a hands-in-the-air revamp that brings the classic into fresh 2022 territory. The follow up to his acclaimed debut album In Your System and singles including ‘Shutter Trak’, ‘Bring the Noise’ and his recent remix of Groove Armada classic ‘Superstylin’, the party-starter – currently on his debut world tour – shows no sign of stopping.
On the remix, Dance System says:“Fatboy Slim is the reason I got into dance music; Number 1 So Why Try Harder, was my gateway drug. Being from Brighton myself, Fatboy was such a massive part of the culture when I first started going out. I was there raving on Brighton Beach with 250,000 people in 2002 – that was such a pivotal moment for me as a DJ. That era and the energy of that set is something I carry with me in everything I do. It’s so wild, twenty years later I’ve remixed Fatboy and I’m playing the anniversary of Big Beach Boutique! Things have really come full circle.”
