Oscar L + Weska – Bad Tape [Truesoul]
An intriguing sonic match-up marks our final Truesoul release of 2021, as Oscar L and Weska connect for a debut collaboration.
Both admirers of each other’s work, the pair linked to exchange unfinished sketches they had each been working on and quickly found their juxtaposing styles combined for memorable results. Oscar’s incredible knack for building infectious grooves has seen him become one of Truesoul’s most valuable contributors in recent years, while Weska’s talent for standout melodies and pads has seen the young Canadian emerge as one of the next crop of names starting to appear on Adam Beyer’s labels. His last appearance was 2019’s ‘Polarize’ collaboration with Bart Skils on Drumcode.
The title track ‘Bad Tape‘ sounds like it was produced while star gazing at UFO’s and pairs Oscar’s chunky bottom end with Weska’s expansive waves of melody for a delicious, intergalactic effect. By contrast, ‘Theory’ is fit for peak-time moments, driven by a throbbing bass and laser-kissed synth work.
