Tiësto – Together Again EP
Dance music titan Tiësto rewards fans with a massive five-track EP, pairing up with talents like Lucas & Steve, Ummet Ozcan, Tomhio, and Killfake on the ‘Together Again’ EP.
The aptly named release acts somewhat of a successor to the 2019 album ‘Together,’ but with a timely musical flair to it that fits perfectly in 2021. ‘Together Again’ traverses genres comfortably, showing influences based in house music, trance and touches of current trends.
“Oohla Oohla” with Lucas & Steve kicks things off, with a captivating rap verse serving as the base for the truck. The intensity only gets greater with a driving and punchy bassline giving the track peak-time dance feels.
“Money” with Killfake is structured similarly, but offers a completely different feel. A vocal chorus anchors this tune from the beginning, with a classic house drum sound slowly pushing the track forward. A bass house-influenced bassline provides plenty of thumping power.
“I’ll Take You High” brings some diversity, with some clear trance influences in the synth choices and some of the melody. The simplicity of the breakdown is stunning, with simple chords and strong vocals setting the scene. Choppy synth stabs form the melody, and soon a thunderous bassline joins to create a sort of fusion between the trance influences and the current ‘Future Rave’ sound.
“Be Something” unites Tiësto with Ummet Ozcan and Tomhio. An almost eerie vibe permeates the breakdown, with bits of organ and piano providing a change of pace beneath the vocals. The track hits with a lead sound that resembles a brass instrument, and continues with to push forward with a slick low end.
Rounding out the EP is “Clickbait,” which pulls no punches as a big room anthem. This is the only instrumental track on the EP, and flies straight into an intense melody and buildup. The track does not skimp on any aspect, bringing a big percussive lead and excellent punch to close out the EP.
