Mat.Joe – Breaker EP [ORIGINS]
Josh Butler’s Origins Rcrds continues to bring high quality talent on the label, this time they release the new EP from Berlin based artists Mat.Joe titled Breaker EP.
The duo drop their debut release on Origins Rcrds off the back of a smash hit collaboration with DIPLO, Conga Rock which has done over 3 million streams on Spotify and was Number 1 in the Afro house genre on Beatport. Now Butler welcomes them to Origins and also brings in the fast rising talent of Irish artist Andrew Azara on the remix .
The first and title track on the EP is Breaker, a straight up house track, gracefully played piano and some layered string washes combining to give this track a summer uplifting feel.
The second track on the EP is Chi Town, a funky jackin’ disco house number, with excellent filtered samples weaving in tandem and perfect fluidity, this a top draw loop based filtered house track.
Finally the last track is Andrew Azara‘s remix of Breaker. Azara who’s recently been releasing on Sidney Charles’ Heavy House Society, Do Not Sleep, likeminded, and Meta Floor delivers a tasty minimal deep version of breaker. On his remix he takes it deeper, retains the vocal sample, tweeks some of the other sounds and adds his own subtle chords and stabs, giving this a classy remix to finish off the EP.
