Full Lineup Announced for 51st State Festival
Confirming their return to North London’s lushious Trent Park this summer, 51st State Festival unveils a colossal lineup for their sixth edition, set to take place on Saturday 7th August 2021.
As one of the UK’s most diverse festivals, 51st State explores the vibrant, pan-Atlantic heritage of Dance music, from its roots in US Gospel, Soul and House, through iconic movements of Acid House, UKG and Dancehall, to the next generation of artists pushing Dance music forward to new evolutions.
With seven arenas of music offering a huge spectrum of sounds and vibes, We Love Soul showcases some of the best in Soul, Funk, Disco, Boogie, Rare Groove and R&B. Anticipated live performances will come from iconic band, The Brand New Heavies, Lauraine McIntosh (The Cool Note’s), Junior Giscombe and Rose Windross. DJ sets come from some of the industry’s best selectors with Jazzie B (OBE), Jerry Bascombe, Matt White and Jigs just a few of the highlights.
Presenting some of House music’s finest, Groove Odyssey have secured some of the genre’s most influential artists and seminal figures.
Best known for hit records ‘Somebody Else’s Guy’ and ‘Ain’t No Mountain’, Jocelyn Brown is set to perform live, as is Alison Limerick, who’s track ‘Where Love Lies’ remains a dancefloor classic to this day. Soaring vocals from House Gospel Choir add to the feel-good soundtrack, whilst legendary duo Masters At Work top a bill of dj sets that reads like a who’s-who of house music, including Roger Sanchez, Body & Soul (Francois K, Joe Clausell and Danny Krivit), Dimitri From Paris, Dave Lee, Mike Dunn and Terry Hunter to name a few.
Flying the flag for Garage, UKG and 2-step, Back To 95 bring unbeatable energy to 51st State with sets from the legendary Todd Edwards, UKG originators, Dreem Team (Mikee B and DJ Spoony), the pioneering Heartless Crew (Mighty Moe, Bushkin and DJ Fonti) and Wookie, with a very special guest to be announced. Keeping the party vibes at maximum levels, Matt Jam Lamont, Majestic and Noris Da Boss Windross will play alongside some of the scenes most prolific MCs. Princess of garage-pop, Shola Ama and revered vocalist Barbara Tucker will each perform live, promising unforgettable festival moments at 51st State this year.
Taking a more contemporary approach, three headline acts join the FOUND main stage, as award-winning DJ and producer, Hannah Wants tops the bill for her only London festival performance this summer. Toolroom Records co-founder Mark Knight also takes top billing, with underground house producer, Bontan, also confirmed. G-House originators, Amine Edge & DANCE will showcase their own take on house music whilst Todd Terry brings the sounds of Chicago and New York to the programme.
Emblematic of early rave culture in the UK, Acid House finds a home at the Acid House Experience arena. As pioneering figures of acid house’ hedonistic warehouse scene, notorious duo the Ratpack take headline duties. As the vocalist on Raze ‘Break For Love’, one of the biggest acid house tracks of all-time, Keith Thompson will once again take control of the mic for his live PA at 51st State. Representing this milestone in club culture, the likes of Trevor Fung & Tracee G, Colin Dale, Ellis Dee and Huck Finn will also perform.
The best in UK dancehall bring smooth, sexy sounds to Hot Wuk with The Heatwave, Robbo Ranx and Sir DJ Corey, and live sets from Jamaica’s Charly Black, Alicia Harley, J Kaz and Jordian Natty. Upbeat sounds are the focus on House FM’s VIP stage with the likes of John Morales, Anané Vega, Opolopo, Lady T & Miss Ray and Randy Peterson keeping spirits high and bodies moving all day.
51st State Festival brings a truly unique offering to the UK’s festival landscape. A pure celebration of dance music culture in a fully inclusive environment.
