Human Movement – KINETIC EP [Of Leisure]
Since the early days of a well-established house project within his underground community of Sydney, Human Movement aka Edward Macdonald’s sought after releases across Australian and European labels have elevated him to more than just connoisseur of taste, but to an artist reaching grandiose heights. With recent tastemaker support from the likes of DJ Seinfeld, D. Tiffany, HAAi and BBC’s Danny Howard, Human Movement returns to Of Leisure with two more sublime tracks taken from his forthcoming ‘KINETIC’ EP.
‘Athena’ takes the listener on a sonic journey with the track ebbing and flowing, building and dropping the tension and keeping the listener transfixed. An infectious fizzing melody remains at the forefront throughout, with the track effortlessly moving from delicate piano breakdowns to energetic breakbeat whilst emotive, dream-like orchestral synths float along creating an unmissable sense of euphoria.
‘Reframed’ is led by another finely crafted breaksy rhythm, underpinned by ground-moving bass tones that are met with drawn-out ethereal synths, juxtaposing each other beautifully. The breakdown sees an eery enigmatic vocal echoing into the distance, teasing the return of the hard-hitting breaks. Ramping things up toward the end of the track scintillating synths take over accompanied by a subtle but poignant acid line.
