SOHMI – Sparks EP [Nothing Else Matters]
Danny Howard’s Nothing Else Matters resumes it’s ‘NEM Home’ series continuing to switch things up by releasing records more suited to home listening, an initiative that was born through the continued closure of nightclubs.
The focus is set around productions that are eclectic and vocal-focused yet still categorised as electronic. Next up in the series we are pleased to welcome another label debut in the form of Korean-American DJ, producer, and vocalist SOHMI who is quickly becoming globally recognised by labels and tastemakers the world over for her distinct and memorable sound. With recent releases on Astralwerks, Get Twisted, Percomaniacs and Gruuv, SOHMI’s sound has been described as a dark and enchanting blend of minimal house and techno, punctuated by breaks, leftfield, soul, funk and unexpected moments of vocal and melodic bliss.
The ‘Sparks‘ EP continues to showcase her penchant for catchy hooks and melodies, her own unique R&B and pop-inspired vocals flowing throughout alongside grooving basslines, resonant synths and atmospheric percussion; an EP that sounds just as good at home as it would on a booming club system.
