Martin Garrix ft. John Martin – Higher Ground [STMPD]
There’s no better way to celebrate your 24th birthday than releasing a future hit. Martin Garrix does just that with the release of “Higher Ground” alongside Swedish vocalist John Martin.
The pairing of producer and vocalist is dance music royalty. Martin Garrix has grown from the producer behind big-room smash “Animals” into the multi-platinum superstar behind “Scared To Be Lonely” (with Dua Lipa) and most recently “Drown” (with Clinton Kane). John Martin rose to fame through significant collaborations with Swedish House Mafia (“Save The World,” “Don’t You Worry Child”). This marks the second collaboration after the two released “Now That I Found You” to inaugurate STMPD RCRDS in 2016.
“Higher Ground” represents the style of vocal progressive house that Martin Garrix has perfected in recent years. Mellow synths and a guitar bring the track into the listener’s ear, and John Martin takes over with his smooth vocals. The chorus hits with a striking intensity, as Martin’s vocals and Garrix’s chord progression bring a beautiful emotion. The drop hits with a serene bliss, bringing a serious bassline and epic progressive harmonies.
