Joe Corti’s Party Playlist
Joe Corti has made a seious impression on the music industry via releases including ‘From London With Love’, a transatlantic volley of deep disco and sample-heavy house that marked the producer’s vinyl debut, contributing a track to Austrian label Pusic Record’s ‘V.A 010’ – ‘Don’t Want It’ which received support from influential selectors Move D and Dan Shake and a feature on Mele’s ‘Mele In The House’ EP for revered label Defected Records.
Frustrated with the delays in releasing music through other labels, Corti decided to set up his own, aiming to build a home for his own music as well as future releases from friends and collaborators. ‘China White 001’ featured upbeat filtered-disco jams that dominated his first release, while exploring darker and deeper territories on the B side that hint towards a new direction for this promising young producer.
His latest release, which drops today via Mele’s recently launched ‘Club Bad’ imprint is his 3-track ‘Bloodline‘ EP which comprises of ‘Bloodline’, ‘Leave Me Alone’ and ‘Perpetual’. GRAB IT HERE. To celebrate the release Joe has also conjured an exclusive Party Playlist for Dance Rebels which features his current favorite tracks!
Niles Cooper – Give Me Strength: Straight wake the flat up downstairs, upstairs, next door! True council knocking on the door stuff, Niles kills it with this one, driving techno stabs with bright drums.. this ones for the night time and is done so well.. love the crackle and of course wouldn’t be a Cooper track without Aretha involved.. killer!
Kyodai – What You Give: This ones a true house track, swinging percussion, shakers, vocals, and piano… can’t be beaten, in my teens I pretty much studied that Laurent Garnier boiler room at Dekmantel, I remember this track just sticking with me. From then till now it still sounds amazing.
Jasper Street Co. – Changes: DJ Spen at his finest, haven’t listened to this in ages but listening to it now it’s pretty amazing… reminds me of some of the best MAW work.. found this on an old school Tony Humphries compilation. GOLD!
Cody Currie – Asteroid Belt: Poor me did every class in uni with this guy and this one came from his debut EP on Austrians Pusic records.. I believe a lot of this was made pissed up in my hamster house of a studio flat in west London.. I don’t think there has ever been a better debut and that’s not me being biased. The EP is pretty ridiculous and this track sums it up.. true reflection on the new wave of deep disco touched house music being made around the world.
Joe Corti – Don’t Want It: I thought really I should add one of my own… this one is a special one to me, the first proper track I ever put out, made home with the Pusic boys in Austria and was played by pretty much everyone I look up too. I remember waking up to Move D playing it at Gottwood and then woke up nearly every week to somewhere else he was playing it. A disco track completely revamped into a peak time banger, driving basslines, disco samples, and rides!
Crustation – flame (Mood II Swing borderline insanity dub mix): The sound of silk, seriously an amazing deep house tune which will be current forever. Swinging hats throughout and crunchy garage drums.
Ben La Desh – In The Back: This one was put out on probably the most well respected ahead of its time new wave disco house labels ever. Sleazy beats smashed it and this Ben La Desh has a load of memories with it.. perfect Sunday morning tune. Listened to it way north of a hundred times and still don’t get bored even if it is pretty repetitive.
The Black Dog – Council Flat Emptiness: As its the party playlist I’ll end with few bigger ones, this one’s huge. A melodic, acid, deep track if that’s possible! ha, big room trancey vibes to lift the roof off any party.
DAPHNI Featuring PARADISE – SIZZLING: New Daphni will probably be tune of the summer, he did it with that “Tin” track a few years ago so why not again haha!! A disco edit banger done so well, live drums big kick and disco loop with amazing vocals from Paradise!
Folamour – These Are Just Places To Me Now: Disco tinged house banger from the french geezer, off his second album, amazing vocal sample with the arp lead all works amazingly well. I heard this come on at a club in south east London a few weeks ago on my mates birthday, instant love.. it is so up my street it’s a joke.. eyes closed dancing vibes.
