Jay Hill’s Party Playlist
This is my release Feb 22nd on Lee Foss & Jamie Jones Emerald City imprint. This is
After moving to Philadelphia, King Britt has become a great mentor & friend. He is the epitome of artists I dearly respect from his Fhloston Paradim projects to his Baby Loves Disco album to this remix for Calvin Harris shows his wide variety of pristine talent. He even took the time to tell me how he made the snares in this one.
This is my beloved Lil Dirty Girl signed by my all time Acid House hero, Mr. C on Superfreq Records last year. The concept of the track was based around me getting expelled from religious school in my youth and I got to work with an amazing vocalist Harry Collier who has released / performed with Faithless. He ran with the concept and took it to the next level with these lyrics.
This is the first record that is responsible for my eternal love affair with house music. It embodies the essence of a timeless track and every time I drop it on a dancefloor it’s amazing to see the beautiful expressions on people’s faces; they recognize it immediately & brings about sweet nostalgia that’s so captivating!
Everything that Janeret touches is solid gold – I think he is the one the key tastemakers of our day. Most of his best releases on vinyl which I have this track as well he so seemlessly bridges a nice gap between house and dub techno; his tracks are full of soul & emotion. When I hear this song it transforms my mood immediately its so uplifting and inspiring.
This is one of those massive tunes I wish I wrote myself (lol) but it was made by my New York mate, Jon Billick & I’m so proud of him for it. It’s so powerful with the vocals and dub chords one of those tracks that’s a jaw dropper on the dance floor.
Hands down one of the most epic warehouse techno tracks made. I’m a huge fan of Ben Klock with his precision making techno of the highest calibre. I love the dark creepy reggae vocals of Spacegate a former dubstep/ grime vocalist who sadly died of cancer.
Barcelona’s, Oriol Fornos is a recent & random promo discovery. And one of those times you’re so happy you clicked the play button. This deep house tune is so unique & beautiful and such a dance floor killer in the right environment.
As I was just starting out, one day very shyly reached out to Jay Tripwire on Facebook & asked him if would consider doing a remix for me and my greek collab partners. To my great surprise he responded and I’ll never forget the day I heard it for the first time. I was standing under the train in Queens, NYC at the time and it literally paralyzed me and blew me away. He’s so ridiculously talented & such a cool personable & funny dude all the same.
KAS:ST is one of my new favorite techno discoveries two guys from Paris. Their output is on the elite level for darker techno they also have their best stuff out on vinyl but this is a track I played in Berlin recently at KitKat club the Sunday afternoon crowd went bananas over.
