Martin Garrix Releases Statement on Apparent Tear Gas Incident During ADE
People typically go to a Martin Garrix show to enjoy the three-time DJ Mag No. 1’s penchant for big basslines and energetic performances. But, his performance Friday, October 19, at the sold out RAI Amsterdam featured a horrifying incident that certainly does not cross the usual event attendee’s mind.
According to various reports across the Internet, someone set off at least one round of tear gas and also used pepper spray on attendees in an attempt to disorient them and rob them. Reddit users reported that jewelry was allegedly stolen amid the confusion.
Garrix took to Twitter on Saturday with a statement in Dutch condemning the incident and indicating that his team was investigating who was responsible. The tweet also indicates the DJ’s excitement for Saturday’s show, which was essentially a repeat of the previous evening’s program except it would be open to all ages instead of 18+.
There were no immediate reports of injuries despite the reports of stolen property. At this time, there is no word on who was responsible for the release of tear gas and pepper spray.
