Kölsch & Tiga – HAL [IPSO]
Dynamic DJ and producer Kölsch and techno heavyweight Tiga are set to release ‘HAL‘, their brand-new collaborative track on Kölsch’s new label IPSO.
Well known for his genre-defining cuts, Danish producer Kölsch has sold millions of records all over the world including seminal album ‘1977’ and his widely acclaimed albums ‘1983’ & ‘1989’, all released on the infamous German techno imprint, Kompakt. Forever outdoing himself, Kölsch offered his exemplary remix abilities to London Grammar’s 2017 hit ‘Hell To The Liars’, turning it into an emotive masterpiece.
Tiga is musical evolution personified, with an unparalleled resumé that includes three solo albums, countless singles including ‘Bugatti’, ‘Woke’, ‘Sunglasses at Night’ and collaborative projects with the calibre of Hudson Mohawke, Pusha T and Matthew Dear. Over the last decade, Tiga has toured the globe and further bolstered the international reputation of his record label, Turbo Recordings, known for breaking out the likes of Gesaffelstein, Duke Dumont and Chromeo. The label celebrates its 20th Anniversary this year, with exclusive unheard releases to come out from the illustrious archive.
Made up of a thunderous build, and rasping chord patterns, ‘HAL’ precedes the pair’s B2B set at OFFSonar this summer, with Kölsch also scheduled to play a primetime headline set at Belgian mega-festival, Tomorrowland.
“After being friends for years, myself and Kolsch decided to take the next logical step in our relationship and make a few tracks together.” said Tiga.
Kölsch adds “HAL is both a reference to the Computer in Stanley Kubrick’s 2001 a Space Odyssey, and short for Hallelujah. … The track sits firmly between Rave and Religion, and has been a staple in my sets, since we made it.”
An aural embodiment of both Kölsch and Tiga’s signature sounds, ‘HAL’ is set for release on 22nd June.
