Belgium-based, but beaming the love for house music all over the world: DJ Licious knows good vibes come from nothing but house music. Currently riding the airwaves with his hit single ‘I Hear You Calling’, DJ Licious started his journey years ago, when as an aspiring DJ, he set up his own clubbing concept SHOMI, which he still runs till this day and which is frequented by specials guests such as Roger Sanchez, Low Steppa, The Magician, Franky Rizardo, Mike Mago and others.
Camelphat, Elderbrook – Cola: I’ve been following Camelphat for years now (since “the act”) and they are heavily underrated, I feel with this single they will finally get the credit they deserve. This is a very infectious dance record and works on every dancefloor for me.
Beth Ditto – Fire (Disciples Remix): Disciples are one of the few that keep a perfect balance between commercial and underground. This is a perfect example, not an instant crowd pleaser but one that will grow over time and make big waves.
Martin Solveig – All Stars: No idea what is up with this man, but as long as I’ve been buying records this man has been on top of the game. Making perfect pop records that remain strong in clubs, which is very rare these days.
Boston Bun – Missing you: Very nostalgic sounding record, reminds me of the old French house daft punk kind of records. Really loving this vibe, reminds me of the first vinyl records I bought back in the days. I see myself back on the beach in Ibiza closing my sets with this…
Funkerman & Cooperated Souls – Bad Boy Beat: Just a plain and simple club bomb, this bassline has worked everytime for me. From festival grounds to a dirty underground basement, this never misses.
Watermat featuring Kelli-Leigh – Won’t Stop (Bob Sinclar & The Cube Guys Extended Remix): The original was a good track on its own, but the Bob Sinclar & Cube Guys remix smashes it out of the park. Very big sounding and orchestral with an excellent drive, matches my latest single “I hear you calling” perfectly soundwise.
Pnau – Chameleon (Melé Remix): This track has been bubbling for a long time and although I really like the original, the Melé remix knocks this out of the park for me! Never misses impact and it’s good to hear those tribal influences coming back.
Bodyrox – Yeah Yeah (Chocolate Puma Remix): The boys from Chocolate Puma keep the original intact and they still manage to bring this track to 2017. I think they were one of the few in the world that could do this old classic justice with a remix.
London Grammar – Big Picture (Gui Boratto Remix): The most chilled out track of the list, but an absolute favorite of mine and locked in my sets at home and in clubs for months now… This is sheer perfection! Of course it helps that the original is from legends like London Grammar but Gui Boratto’s input is also nothing less than monumental. A must have for every electronic music lover.
Silque – Serenity EP: Released on my own SHOMI label, I am honoured to have signed this first EP ever from these very talented Dutch guys. I can’t choose a favorite track cause they are all amazing and sound very fresh. Watch these guys, they will go far.
