Funkin Matt – Aurora [Heldeep Records]
Funkin Matt makes his Heldeep Records debut with a funky record titled “Aurora”.
Ever since he broke on to the scene in 2007, Funkin Matt always has something unique to bring to the table. His discography includes releases on Tiësto‘s Musical Freedom, Diplo‘s Mad Decent, A-Trak‘s Fool’s Gold, Steve Aoki‘s Dim Mak and more. Plus, he started his own Fjordin label back in 2010. “Aurora” has garnered DJ support from Martin Garrix, Don Diablo and more.
“‘Aurora’ started out as a chord progression, I was going for a film-like progression where you feel the mood change during the progression. Also I’m really getting into the funk basslines again so I felt it was a good fit with the more progressive feel of the chords.”
–Funkin Matt via official press release.
Just like his name suggests, there is plenty of funk on “Aurora”. The track revolves around psychedelic sounding synths that intertwine with spacey vocal samples. Their progression ties the track together as it moves from break to drop. Acid/303 style synths join in to create an undeniably groovy atmosphere that will get people dancing. Funkin Matt created yet another house thoroughbred with this record.
