Devoted To God – Letting Time Go [Record Record]
There’s a good chance you’ve never heard of Devoted To God. And there’s a good reason for that. Devoted To God is a French electronic artist who has been around for a few years now as one of the four members of the French future bass group Point Point. Up until recently he has only released a few tracks through Record Record‘s “Filet Mignon” compilation albums but is now returning to his individual project with his second track in as many months. The most recent of which is called “Letting Time Go.”
The song opens with a kind of trippy melody that continues to just drone on for two minutes while chords are strung across the top of it that. The chords increase in pitch and other sounds are added to the chords to provide the feeling that everything is building up to some kind of great climax. And after two minutes of this, the track briefly goes silent. It then brings you back in with more chords that rapidly increase in pitch while very light percussion helps simulate the anticipation of the drop. And when it finally does drop, the song becomes a culmination of all the sounds from the past two and a half minutes and it is blended together brilliantly. The mixture of all the sounds creates a brilliantly chill atmosphere that is sewn together by the original melody that persists up until the last beat.
“Letting Time Go” is not a song that will be played at clubs or bars but I don’t think that’s the audience Devoted To God is looking to reach with this song. The vibe created by this song is one that almost demands to be played while in a car at night or on a rainy day. It’s a very chilled out song and isn’t designed to make people move their feet but rather their heads in appreciation.
