Yotto – Marisa [Green]
Building off his incredible run on Anjunadeep, rising Finnish star Yotto makes his debut on Joris Voorn & Edwin Oosterwal‘s GREEN with a delicately balanced release that showcases his most vivid breadth and skill.
Marisa shows the world just why Yotto has enjoyed such heavy support from a wide range of artists, from Kolsch to Laurent Garnier, and has received consistent airtime spotlight on Radio 1, including multiple Essential New Tunes from Pete Tong and a Hottest Record in the World from Annie Mac. A timeless homage to euphoria that wouldn’t have sounded out of place at any point since Sasha & Digweed’s seminal Renaissance mix, it instantly conjures sun-kissed summer shindigs, end-of-night hug-a-thons and those magical moments when the entire crowd locks together as one. In fact this is so positive, theres a rumour going round that the Marisa who inspired this tune is actually a legit angel.
Our exploration of Yotto’s arpeggiated heavens continues with Oscillations as slow burning momentum eases us into proceedings. First the warm bass, then the infectious percussive elements, then the gradual creep of the hook, then boom … It’s all stripped back for real build. Cue strings, cue subtle harmonic textures, cue a rising sense of uplift as we dive slo-mo into another utterly exultant state. Once again, another selection of records that tap deep into each of us emotionally.
Once again, another selection of records that will strike a chord with any DJ within the entire house, tech and progressive sphere. Yotto is pushing all the right buttons Long may he continue to do so.
