Martin Garrix & Brooks – Byte [STMPD RCRDS]
The dance music world continues to belong to Martin Garrix, and “Byte” alongside Brooks simply proves it.
The 2016 DJ Mag champion continues to ride the success of “In The Name of Love,” the Bebe Rexha collaboration certified at least platinum in eight different countries. Then, “Scared To Be Lonely” with Dua Lipa followed with gold certifications in four countries. Enter Brooks, a rising Dutch talent who is fresh off a massive collaboration with Showtek titled “On Our Own”. “Byte” debuted during Ultra Music Festival, and the wait was quite short.
After both artists experimented with future bass and pop sounds, “Byte” represents a return to normalcy. Both Martin Garrix and Brooks grew to fame with progressive house productions, but impressively flexed their muscles in other genres. The track centers around a simple chord progression throughout. But, the producers manipulate their synths choices to create an atmosphere bordering between progressive and future house. Next, a dynamic bassline joins to make “Byte” explode into stratospheric amounts of energy. Throw in a cameo from the “Tremor” lead synth in the middle breakdown, and “Byte” shows its strengths at a high level.
