Lee Van Dowski – Evar EP [Mood]
It was only a matter of time… Singular studiosmith Lee Van Dowski makes his debut on MOOD and his rich, restrained sound fits the label like an Italian tailored suit. Make that a space suit… Lee’s taking us to some far-out places right here.
‘Evah‘ bursts through the earth’s orbit with serious opening statement thrust. Tribal, timeless, coded with so many classical elements but sounding so fresh. The type of track that could complement any techno context since day one, its sinewy rising arpeggio creeping back and forth with crisp clarity, the rolling drums, the tense sense of drama… We could go on about this one forevah (sorry)
The same levels of cosmic emotion are present on ‘Sol Invictus‘. This time the take-off is more gradual as the stripped back intro drums mark the countdown and the soaring, fazing synth lines scorch the spectrum like shooting stars.
‘D4D5‘ closes the game. Thicker, more robust and rolling, the gravity of the loopy, gradually layered percussion and rising bass pull us back to earth. Watch out for the attack three minutes in where a majestic melody checkmates the heavy hypnotic groove with game changing results.
