On The Rise: Nine Artists Who Will Dominate 2017
2017 brings us a new year, and you know what that means: A whole new year of good music! So Dance Rebels brings you a list of up and coming artists to watch this year. This is a collective of producers and DJs that have caught the eyes of fans, but who we think will become very big. Let’s do this:
K?d: K?d has been killing it in 2016. For those who already know K?d, you know the epic sound that comes from his songs. K?d has been making songs and remixes with this emotional power behind them. He has already had some great exposure with what he makes and continues to blow everyone’s mind with each release. It’s amazing to watch how K?d has refined his sound over the past year, I can’t wait to see what’s next.
K?d has that kind of sound that if you listen to it, it catches your attention immediately. To prove it, here are a few of his songs:
And his newest release:
I remember when he remixed “Doin’ It Right“, I was caught off guard by this song and I still love it:
Whethan: Whethan’s got it! In three releases only, he’s hit three different styles working alongside Ashe, Oliver Tree, Flux Pavilion, and MAX. He also has a handful of great remixes in his arsenal. Whethan has captured that emotional vibe that we all love, as well as that hard crunch where we go wild with his newest release “Savage“. In addition, he has announced his first ever tour starting late January. Get your tickets and go see a show that will I guarantee you will enjoy! Here’s a few songs to get you started:
KRANE: Formally known as KRNE, KRANE has changed up his name for the start of a new year. Recently off the Gud Vibrations Tour, KRANE has been busy juggling a new Sessions EP and maybe even a new album soon. Though his sound has changed around a little, he never disappoints the crowd. KRANE definitely has a heavier sound, but he puts his own twist on music which is awesome. Check out a couple of songs; I can’t wait to see what KRANE has planned for 2017:
JOYRYDE: What to say about JOYRYDE, I mean he just kills it… His songs are insane, his sound has so much hype. If you see him live you will lose your shit. JOYRYDE is making his way in the heavy bass and crunch music, but he has managed to make his own style of it. There is so much put into his songs and each one is jaw-dropping. What gets me is the little cuts and sounds injected into his songs that are never predictable. Check out some JOYRYDE and go see him live, you won’t regret it:
Party Pupils: You want some funky sound? You want some good bounce to your tune? You want Party Pupils. This duo is killing it with their sound, redoing classics like “Pony” and “Ms. Jackson” and making them their very own. Try to find a sound like Party Pupils, I dare you, because it’s very hard. The way these two give a song such a different vibe is incredible. They even went as far as remixing “Broccoli” by D.R.A.M. Check Party Pupils out, support them, because I know they are going to be huge:
Dion Timmer: Dion Timmer… One second these sick synths are playing, the next this absolutely dirty drop fills the room. He may remind you a lot of Excision, and that’s probably because they have collaborated on so much. Dion Timmer is also supporting Excision on The Paradox Tour. He released “Lost” just yesterday which has great sound and hype. Dion Timmer has some great talent and so far he’s not slowing down at all, so check him out:
Point Point: Point Point is a group with a very different sound. Their songs are very energetic and happy. A couple noticeable things about Point Point is the way they use their synths, they’re catchy and also very pretty. The drums chosen for songs are very fitting but also very unique. This can be observed in songs like “All This“. Point Point has some great music and it fits not only live but also anywhere really. Check out Point Point:
Robotaki: Robotaki also has a nice funky feeling to some of his stuff. Other times his music is more mellow. Regardless he is a skilled producer and great to see live. He recently opened for Porter Robinson and Madeon on the Shelter Tour. Seeing him live really showed his taste in music, spanning from a pretty vibe to a nice hard drop. Robotaki is just getting started and 2017 is going to be a good year for him:
Trobi: Trobi has this nice relaxing vibe that comes with his music. He has found this sound that resonates within us and that let’s us connect with his music. So far Trobi has released a few remixes that he labels as chill, and they are exactly that. Check out Trobi and watch out for what he brings in 2017:
