Dropgun – Nobody [Hexagon]
After making their Hexagon debut on the Generation Hex ADE Sampler, duo Dropgun returns to the imprint with “Nobody”.
Their record “Fever” with Farleon was one of 10 different tracks released for October’s craziness in Amsterdam. Their solo debut on the label racked up plentiful support from all over the industry, including Martin Garrix, Oliver Heldens, W&W and plenty more. “Nobody” has also been a mainstay in label boss Don Diablo‘s livesets.
Dropgun samples the classic track “You’re No Good For Me” on this record, and do a great job using the lyrics in a unique way. What sounds like a bassline in the breakdown is actually the vocals pitched down and covered in FX. Other highlights include a lively piano which fills in the gap between bassline and vocals. Carefully pitched vocals serve as the buffer between breakdown and drop, and then energetic future house drives a dynamic chord progression through the speakers. Dropgun have created the perfect record to sing and dance along to in “Nobody”.
