Eddie Thoneick – Snakes & Daggers EP [Cartel]
After co-producing Cartel‘s debut release, Eddie Thoneick is back for more. He headlines the label’s second release with the Snakes & Daggers EP.
The two tracks featured are “Guinea” and “The Snake”. The EP title is more of a commentary on the label’s artwork design. Like we mentioned before, Eddie Thoneick teamed up with Kryder for “The Chant” at the end of last month.
These two tracks definitely come from the same family of house music. “Guinea” puts an artfully used flute alongside intricate percussion. The bassline really drives this track along, and has the ability to rock dancefloors worldwide. The middle breakdown gets extra life from a Latin-influenced vocal.
A similarly styled Latin-influenced vocal is the main focus of “The Snake”. That vocal matches perfectly with energetic drums and bass to create a grooving house smash. Listen deeper into the drops to hear a very similar flute, too. Each of the elements complements the others quite well, and makes the Snakes & Daggers EP tracks must-plays.
