Pioneer DJ Introduces DDJ-RZX Controller + Rekordbox Video
Pioneer continues to find innovative ways to stay on top of the DJ equipment game. They up the ante once more in the realm of controllers with their new DDJ-RZX controller. Plus, they make Rekordbox even better with a new video function.
Now, that might be a lot to process. Let’s split it up and dissect the two new announcements.
DDJ-RZX Controller
This new controller is now the top of the line offering from Pioneer DJ. It continues to bring all of the features that Pioneer has included in all past controllers. Four channels, performance pads underneath the jog-wheels and now three 7-inch touch screens. Those screens are good for viewing track information and applied pad effects. They’ve also upgraded the FX controls, which now include Combo FX, Sampler Repeat and Release FX, as well as the studio-quality Sound Color FX from the DJM-900NXS2 mixer. The controller will release in mid-July 2016 at an MAP of $2,999. It will also include licenses for Rekordbox as well as Rekordbox Video.
Rekordbox Video
Rekordbox Video is Pioneer’s biggest addition to their Rekordbox software. It lets you bring videos into your performances, and lets you play and mix them live on any of the controllers in our DDJ range as if they were audio tracks. The add-on also lets you add text and create slideshows on the fly.
Here are the main video features:
- Native control of videos – scratch and add FX to videos as if they were audio tracks
- Transition FX – use the crossfader to mix 2 video sources with a choice of 20 in-built FX. Add up to five effects to your favourites and recall them
- Touch FX – trace on the display’s x and y axes to add FX and adjust parameters
- Slideshow – create slideshows of still images in advance or on the fly
- Camera FX – show the live feed from a digital camera connected to your computer
The software add-on is available now, and the controller is set to drop in mid-July.
