Headhunterz & KSHMR – Dharma [Spinnin’ Records]
A collaboration between Headhunterz and KSHMR was inevitable, and “Dharma” goes well beyond expectations.
A vast majority of fans online predicted that the last couple of big-room tracks on Spinnin’ Records involved either artist in some way. “Dharma” was the second track on Vol. 7 of “Welcome to KSHMR” in March. Since then, the track has been a major part of just about every DJ radioshow.
Headhunterz and KSHMR have production styles that are so similar, and that gives them an advantage in the studio. “Dharma” has clear Eastern influences, which are important to both artists. “When KSHMR found his way into the electronic scene I was instantly inspired by his mystical Eastern influences,” Headhunterz said via official press release.
The instrumentation and vocals rock an exotic vibe that is rare in mainstream house music. Of course, both producers made the conscious decision to fill “Dharma” with those kinds of sounds. “We threw instruments from all over the world into ‘Dharma’, from sitars to Middle Eastern strings. It helps that Headhunterz is a melody genius,” KSHMR said via official press release.
The drop strays away from the melodic sounds, as it goes for a heavy approach. Short and loud cuts of synths link up with a pounding bassline to make this track a peak-time must-play for DJs everywhere.
