Bassjackers & Jay Hardway – El Mariachi [Spinnin’ Records]
Leave it to Dutchmen Bassjackers and Jay Hardway to kickstart the summer with a huge banger.
The first time that these guys collided in the studio resulted in “El Mariachi”. This record is pure big-roomfire, which really is not surprising given the artists responsible. The wait for this track has been almost a year, as it debuted last summer during Tomorrowland.
“El Mariachi” does so well because of its sheer energy. But, that’s not obvious right off the bat. Bassjackers and Jay Hardway made sure to build the sound up slowly, starting with simple piano and moving to thick cuts of synths. The energy keeps rising in the buildup, thanks to strong percussion and crescendoing synths. The drop brings a huge big-room vibe, complete with a pluck melody and a gargantuan bass kick. This record is a must-have in any late-night party playlist or DJ set.
