Nicky Romero – The Moment (Novell) [Protocol Recordings]
Some people argue against creating a vocal mix for instrumental songs, but Nicky Romero thought otherwise.
Last month, he released the Steve Angello-debuted “Novell” as an instrumental via his Protocol Recordings label. In fact, both Nicky Romero and Steve Angello played the track out without adding any extra acapellas. That all changes now as the vocal version known as “The Moment” has been revealed. Nicky Romero revealed that vocal version on the mainstage of Tomorrowland Brasil on April 23.
“The Moment” mix starts off in the exact same way as the instrumental, so no vocals until the second break. If anything, it’s so worth it to hear that fantastic melody in an unadulterated form again. The second breakdown is where things change up, and “The Moment” breaks from the original. The combination of piano and orchestral sounds blends perfectly with the strength of the vocalist. No vocalist is credited, but the voice on the track is strong and delivers with fantastic emotion. He does a perfect job of switching between belting and a softer style to match the intensity of the instrumental. “Novell” was great to begin with, but Nicky Romero has expanded upon it and found further success with “The Moment”.
