Burning Man Festival Coming to Netherlands in July 2016
Nevada’s world famous Burning Man Festival will be making the jump across the pond to the Netherlands in 2016.
The European edition of the festival is titled “Where the Sheep Sleep,” and will take place from July 29-31. There really are no deserts in the Netherlands, but the event will take place in Veluwe. Veluwe is a woodland area that is roughly 10 km away from Apeldoorn in the province of Gelderland.
The festival looks to bring Burning Man’s 10 core principles to the Netherlands as well. Those, of course, are radical inclusion, gifting, decommodification, radical self-reliance, radical self-expression, communal effort, civic responsibility, leaving no trace, participation and immediacy.
Burning Man appears to be taking steps to avoid ticket scalping by creating a two-step process for purchases. Per DJ Mag, fans must join a Facebook group and pay for a membership.
