DubVision – Magnum [June 10 – Revealed Recordings]
It’s pretty surprising that it has taken this long for DubVision to land on Revealed Recordings. Each are quite strong in their own rites as artist and label, and this pairing seems like it can provide productivity for all. The Dutch duo, composed of brothers Victor and Stephan Leicher, now bring their renowned progressive house sound to Hardwell‘s label for “Magnum”. This marks the second big release for the duo so far this year, as they landed on Michael Brun‘s Kid Coconut imprint back in April for a record titled “Million Miles”. Their appearance on Revealed continues their trend of diversifying their labels, as they seem to have strayed away from Spinnin’ Records a little bit. Revealed has now started releasing two tracks per week, so “Magnum” will be released on Friday, June 10.
With a name like “Magnum,” it would be easy to guess that DubVision are going back towards electro like they did on “Sweet Harmony”. It’s actually quite the opposite, as that melodic sound that brought them to fame is loud and clear on this single. The breakdown is constructed in a very similar manner to a previous record titled “Backlash,” since they both start with a very mellow feeling that then bursts to life with the addition of a melody. It’s important to listen very closely to this breakdown, as the DubVision boys have worked some very interesting nuances into this segment. In particular, keep an ear open for the manipulated vocal chops. DubVision tops it all off by unleashing yet another wonderful and melodic drop, using an energetic set of synths to pull it all together.
Grab “Magnum” when it drops on June 10.
