Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna – This Is What You Came For (Holl & Rush Bootleg)
Calvin Harris made a big stir when he decided to collaborate once more with Rihanna, who worked together on a No. 1 single in the US and UK with “We Found Love” in 2011. The new record, “This Is What You Came For,” is already seeing widespread radio play, but it’s way too early to predict whether or not it will eclipse its predecessor. The original is quite poppy, and that’s why Dutch duo Holl & Rush decided to put their production expertise to work on a fantastic bootleg. The first thing I’d like to commend is actually not what one would normally expect. Holl & Rush did a good job of determining what should stay and go from the original, since Rihanna‘s vocals are definitely a strength, but the drop is a little bit weak. It’s safe to say they addressed these concerns. Holl & Rush added some more power behind the melody Calvin Harris created by chopping up Rihanna‘s vocals, with some strong synth work that Holl & Rush have become known for. The drop puts that saw synth to perfect use, as it joins up with a bouncy bassline to give “This Is What You Came For” the electro rework it absolutely deserves. Holl & Rush show they mean business with this bootleg, which they’ve been kind enough to put up for free download!
I have to give Holl & Rush props for trying to avoid SoundCloud removing their remix. Very crafty name!
