Swedish duo Qulinez have been a consistent force in the dance music industry. Ever since a brief hiatus after leaving Size Records, the duo has come on strong with big releases. It seems that they have settled on Armada Music, and their new label home suits them beautifully. They have developed a consistent melodic sound, and that is clearly audible on their next single called “Hold Me Now”. This record revolves around a simple vocal, which really dominates each breakdown. There is not much else to be heard in those sections, and that really lends itself to the “less is more” school of thought when it comes to music production. The producers artfully play with the pitch of the vocal throughout “Hold Me Now,” which keeps it from being stale and keeps the listener guessing. The drops on this tune have a catchy melody, and have a bit of an electro-style edge to the bassline. Through “Hold Me Now,” Qulinez have created a simple, yet effective track for the summer that will have people singing and dancing in no time.
