Florian Picasso – Final Call [Protocol Recordings]
There are a lot of producers who can claim progressive house as their style of choice, and Florian Picasso has settled into his own signature sound in recent months. It started with “Origami,” and continues now with the release of “Final Call” via Nicky Romero‘s Protocol Recordings. His sound is unique, as he chops up his synths in a way that no producer does in the industry right now. “Final Call” kicks off with what sounds like a guitar playing underneath a powerful set of vocals. The breakdown stays with a very mellow mood for the most part, adding only simple percussion and piano to spice up the sound as it progresses onward. The buildup is when things really get interesting, and when Florian Picasso shows off his real strengths. An artfully chopped vocal serves as a new melody on the scene, and makes the sound have a very dynamic feel. At the same time, he adds drums to really build the suspense for the drop. “Final Call” then hits with that chopped vocal layered and pitched on itself to create the perfect lead synth, alongside a punchy bassline to make a very energetic and danceable drop. Florian Picasso also carefully works in percussion to keep “Final Call” from dragging. If he keeps this up, Florian Picasso will be consistently pumping out summer anthems in no time.
