Headhunterz & Skytech – Kundalini [May 9 – Spinnin’ Records]
Spinnin’ Records has always done a great job in bring their artists together to bring out the best in their talent. They’ve united the Netherlands and Poland by bringing label veterans Headhunterz and Skytech together for a massive tune. “Kundalini” had been lurking in a few DJ sets since the last day of 2015, and was one of the many bangers included in the Spinnin’ Records Miami Night Mix from March’s Miami Music Week. Most recently, Headhunterz continued his experimenting with genres by dropping his 76 BPM track “Lift Me Up,” while Skytech recently teamed up with Yves V and Fafaq for a banger titled “Fever”. Their collaboration together titled “Kundalini” will be released on May 9 via Spinnin’ Records.
Before the identities of the artists were confirmed, just about everyone was screaming this tune was KSHMR. I can see why, but the Indian-influenced sound is not just limited to him. The breakdown starts off with a complex vocal in a language that I can’t quite pinpoint. That sound grows stronger as Headhunterz and Skytech bring in a powerful melody from the background, crafted from a combination of loud hardstyle and melodic electro synths. This has to be one of the more catchy chord progressions in a while. The bridge between the breakdown and drop revisits the vocals, and puts that same melody over looped percussion. The drop is the perfect middle ground between progressive and electro, since the melodic styling and heavy synths form a wonderful sound.
This massive collaboration between Headhunterz and Skytech drops via Spinnin’ Records on May 9, don’t forget it!
