JAKKO – Unido [Code Red Music]
As a dance music fan, you really have to tip your cap to Marcus Schössow‘s Code Red Music team for their ability to constantly find under the radar talent. The artists in their release catalog are diverse, and that trend continues as they welcome Brazilian JAKKO to the label to release “Unido”. This record perfectly bisects what does label stands for, as it combines groovy house alongside progressive house. The first drop is pure groove, with a sound that relies on the driving bassline and percussion. A few more melodic aspects make their way into the sound as the first drop plays on, as JAKKO artfully plays with the line between the two genres. The real melodic section on “Unido” starts in the middle breakdown with a repeating piano sequence. The great energy multiplies with the addition of more synths on top of the piano, adding more volume to an already catchy chord progression. That melody runs all the way through the breakdown, providing a great glimpse at the second drop. After an intense buildup, the second drop hits with a slick, melodic sound that perfectly embodies summer vibes. “Unido” is the perfect combination of styles, and JAKKO did a fantastic job creating a cohesive record with two unique drops.
