MEG & NERAK – Ethnos [Axtone Records]

Axwell and his Axtone Records seem to be making us wait for their biggest new tracks. We’ve been patiently awaiting “Ethnos” since last year’s Amsterdam Dance Event, and the Russian duo of MEG & NERAK has made this record worth the wait. These guys really know how to make groovy house, and that expertise shines throughout the track. “Ethnos” has a very punchy bassline that fits perfectly within the mix alongside a percussive synth pattern and tribal vocal loop. The duo used a creative fill in between the first and second sections of the drop, with a slick brass section taking over for a few beats. The breakdown has a very mellow feel to it, with the reintroduction of vocals on top of a percussive sequence. Once the break has run its course, its back into another round of groovy madness from MEG & NERAK. Prepare to hear “Ethnos” just about everywhere this summer.
