Bassjackers vs. Breathe Carolina & Reez – Marco Polo [April 15 – Spinnin’ Records]
You know its almost festival season when the mega-collaborations begin coming out, and the artists on this track are second to none. The producers involved with Bassjackers, Breathe Carolina, and Reez have all joined forces for “Marco Polo,” a track that first surfaced as part of the madness that was Miami Music Week. This is actually the second big collaboration for Bassjackers recently, as they just teamed up with MOTi and Joe Ghost for “On The Floor Like”. Breathe Carolina just did a huge tune with Blasterjaxx called “Soldier,” and Reez made an appearance on the Revealed Recordings Miami Sampler. “Marco Polo” is coming out on April 15 via Spinnin’ Records.
The breakdown gets right to it quickly, and the energy on this tune is absolutely wild. This huge tag-team of producers uncork a fantastic blend of synths that brings some serious firepower from the low-end to the top line. The chord progression is more complex than most, but at the same time is not over-complicated. “Marco Polo” then moves into a very extended buildup, where a vocal sample that bears the track’s name starts off slow over pounding bass kicks. Those bass kicks then give way to looped snare rolls to accentuate the later section of the buildup. The drop has a quick pace to it, making its way through a mesmerizing chord progression with ease. There is plenty of bassline, and trademarks of Bassjackers, Breathe Carolina, and Reez are all clearly audible at different junctions in the track. It definitely feels like we’ve got our first big festival banger here in the form of “Marco Polo”.
“Marco Polo” will drop via Spinnin’ Records on April 15.
