Carnage Describes deadmau5 Using Homophobic Slur, Faces Extreme Backlash
Since its inception, the dance music industry has tried its absolute hardest to embody the motto of “Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect” at all times. That motto took a huge hit this weekend, as a Twitter beef between deadmau5 and Carnage got ugly after Carnage referred to deadmau5 as a “f*ggot”.
These two feuded before over Carnage’s alleged use of a pirated version of Sylenth back in October of 2015.
It all started when Carnage was asked by Dave Grutman (owner of LIV nightclub in Miami with an impressive two sentence Wikipedia bio) on his Snapchat, “How’s deadmau5?”
Carnage replied, “He’s a f*ggot.”
The firestorm started there, as deadmau5 stated in a now-deleted tweet, “People need to stop supporting this tool. I can deal with shade being thrown, but then there’s this senseless shit…”
Carnage fired back saying:
@deadmau5 OH SHUT UP JOEL…. stop being such a pussy… Why are you so mad ?!?!?

Carnage went on to play the “I have gay friends/family/whomever” card, which was definitely not well-received.
I have gay cousins… I have a transgender aunt who raised me… So don’t you ever get at me like that….that’s one thing YOUR NOT gonna do

Then, other artists got involved:
. @djcarnage calling a @deadmau5 a faggot. Didn’t we have enough with @TenWallsMusic???? Wtf is this shit!? Seriously, fuckin enough now 😡

Carnage didn’t like that one, but Marcus Schossow did not back down:
@djcarnage maybe you should use ur fuckin brain instead of threating me with violence… That would be a good start.

No one will care what you’ve done when you disrespect anyone. Just apologize instead if you mean it. It’s healthier. https://t.co/ZVFMU5D38o

Eventually, Carnage did apologize for the word choice, but the damage is done and there is zero excuse or tolerance for such offensive language.
using the term “faggot” was wrong and I apologize to anyone that took offense, I didn’t mean to offend anyone
— CARNAGE (@djcarnage) March 21, 2016
I will never use that term again… I’m sorry but being a homophobe is just not me…

Ten Walls got dropped from just about everything related to dance music, but for some reason, Carnage finds it okay to defend his word choice. Some fans have tried to defend him as well, with some decrying the degree of political correctness in today’s world.
Not okay, Carnage. Hopefully, the industry responds in the right manner and makes it clear that this kind of stuff is not tolerated.
