Hardwell, Thomas Newson, Kill The Buzz Deliver an Incredible Show in Syracuse, NY
by Joseph Hadley and Hartel Smith
For the second year in a row, the Revealed Recordings crew has put together an astounding tour experience for North America. On March 4, that tour made a stop in Syracuse, New York, for a packed show at the F-Shed at the Market. Hardwell, Thomas Newson and Kill The Buzz made for an impressive lineup, and certainly did not disappoint.
The night kicked off at 7:00 p.m., and the party got hot quickly. Kill The Buzz took to the stage as the event’s opener, and opened the event up with a host of groovier song selections. Fans were still filing in as his set continued, but everyone in the crowd managed to contribute to an atmosphere that was undeniably electric. Groovy tracks like the Genairo Nvilla remix of Will K‘s “Here Comes The Sun,” and “Drive” by Sick Individuals as well as heavier songs like “41 Days” by Merk & Kremont, mixed with the acapella of “Set Fire To The Rain” by Adele, highlighted a set that, during the last few minutes of his set, Kill The Buzz was joined onstage by the act that was going to follow him in the form of Thomas Newson.
The transition between the two opening acts was completely flawless, with Thomas Newson easily taking over by simply mixing into his first track once Kill The Buzz had wrapped up his set. The energy level slowly increased while Newson graced the decks. Almost synchronized with room filling up with more fans, Thomas Newson slowly worked his way through a wide ranges of genres, touching on just about everything from progressive house to jungle terror. The crowd went absolutely nuts as he uncorked a smooth edit of The Killers‘ “When You Were Young” alongside his single from last summer by the name of “Ravefield” and Skrillex and MUST DIE!‘s banger “VIP’s.” Plus, his track “Wildfire” drove the place insane. He thanked the crowd as he reached the end of his slot, and got the crowd ready for the main event.
The speakers went quiet, the lights dark, but the crowd became rowdier than ever. Chants of “Hardwell! Hardwell!” reverberated through the F-Shed at the Market as the beginning of a triumphant intro blasted through the venue. It was the same intro as the one from last year’s edition of Tomorrowland, which combines vocal stabs from each of his biggest singles. Hardwell‘s set was packed to the brim with huge tunes, marked by the appearance of new singles “Mad World” and “Run Wild” as well as an amazing mashup of “Heads Will Roll” and “Bowser.” As a special added bonus, Hardwell also dropped his upcoming and untitled collaboration with W&W.
The atmosphere inside the F-Shed at the Market grew steadily throughout the event, and the sound system was incredible. It was impossible to escape the bass, and every single nuance of every song was readily available to the ears of everyone in the venue. The sounds of each performer combined with the lighting proved to be an incredible concert environment, and sets the bar for just about every other act that is scheduled to come into Syracuse, NY.
Special thanks to Revealed Recordings, Urban Rebel PR, and Creative Concerts for making this possible.
