TomorrowWorld 2016 Cancelled Due to SFX Entertainment’s Bankruptcy

As SFX Entertainment‘s battle with bankruptcy rages on, the effects continue to be felt in the dance music industry. Today, organizers of the TomorrowWorld festival announced that the 2016 edition would be cancelled. The event started in 2013, and the city of Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia, approved a land use permit that would have allowed the festival to continue taking place in the same location until 2025.
The festival had some serious issues in 2015, as torrential downpours endangered festivalgoers and even restricted the third day of the festival solely to those who were camping in the festival’s Dreamworld area. The 2014 edition of the festival was the most successful, garnering more than $10 million to offset the losses from the previous year.
The door is still open for the festival to come back in the years to come, but SFX Entertainment and ID&T are simply not in a financial situation that would allow for the festival to occur. For now, Americans will have to settle for livestreams from Tomorrowland in Belgium, as well as the newly-created Tomorrowland Brazil.
