Dillon Francis & Kygo feat. James Hersey – Coming Over (Remixes) [Columbia]
Dillon Francis closed 2015 on an absolute tear. The American released his first studio album (Money Sucks, Friends Rule) as well as a huge moombahton EP titled This Mixtape is Fire. That EP featured a collaboration with Kygo titled “Coming Over,” and now the track has received a star-studded remix package. The James Hersey-aided hit received remixes from Tiësto, Tommy Trash, Cazztek, and CRNKN.
The Tiësto remix takes the original and speeds it up a bit, but not as fast as you’d expect. At a 123 BPM, the Dutchman used the chords from the original’s breakdown as an energetic progression for the drop. Tommy Trash‘s remix splits the middle between electro house and bass house, since the majority of the drop takes place in the lower end of the musical spectrum. Tommy Trash also works in his signature wobbling synth effect to make sure his remix is a cohesive piece. The big trend now is bass house, and that is provided by Cazztek. The vocals are slowed down more than in the original, and are joined by that familiar grinding sub-bass. The remix pack is rounded out by trap connoisseur, CRNKN. He stays true to his roots on this remix, working in a powerful combination of 808’s and horns.
