Marcus Schössow & Jaz Von D – Polygon [January 25 – Code Red]
The success that Marcus Schössow‘s Code Red Music imprint saw in 2015 is quite impressive. The label had 12 songs chart into Beatport’s top 100, coming out to a combined 179 days on the chart. The label’s 2016 catalogue gets off to a unique start as the label boss has linked up with Dutchman Jaz Von D for a tune titled “Polygon”. This combination is definitely a no-brainer since, the Code Red label boss has linked up with the artist responsible for the label’s highest charting. The preview for “Polygon” really comes out of nowhere, as there is no prior radio play recorded for the track. The track will be released in full on January 25.
The label quickly points out that this tune is something different for each producer. The breakdown is really made up of a few simple elements, but comes out with a very strong result. A pulsating synth serves as the perfect bed for a heavily distorted vocal. That sound is then joined by a simple percussion sequence to add a slight breakbeat. The drop that Marcus Schössow and Jaz Von D worked into “Polygon” is something that you’d really never expect from these two. They abandoned groove for a slower tempo, and deeper house vibe. The synth they chose serves as both the lead and bassline, while the trademark hi-hats and claps of house give this tune an unreal atmosphere.
Grab “Polygon” when it drops on January 25!
